Score Extra Points With These Superbowl Recipes

Score extra points this game day with these twists on traditional game day dishes. These recipes are quick and easy to make and the extra flavor help take “same old,...

At PuckerbuttPepperCo, we are passionate about making sauce recipes that awaken your taste buds with unmistakable freshness and flavor. So, it was due time to help spice up Super Bowl with two of Smokin Eds and PuckerbuttPepper Co’s favorite recipes; made with some of our tastiest signature sauces. Before you rush to the store for the usual game day suspects, let’s pause for a second on what to make.

This year, let someone else bring the giant cheese ball or those little franks swimming in a bath of mystery sauce. Not only are those dishes old news, no one in America can explain exactly why we like those weird, little franks and we all wait an entire year, until the next big game, to eat them again.

So, be bold. Add a twist to traditional game day dishes and take the “same old, same old” to “shoot that’s savory”! Best of all, these recipes are flavorful and quick and easy to make!

Here are the play-by-play instructions on how to make the Crock-Pot Sweet and Spicy Meatballs and finally put the boring game day dishes to rest. R.I.P little franks.

 Crock-Pot Sweet and Spicy Meatballs

Crock-Pot Sweet and Spicy Meatballs

Ingredients

Makes - Dozen (24)
  • 1.5lbs venison or beef
  • 1/3 cup white onion, chopped fine
  • 3-4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/3 cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
For the sauce
  • 1 cup Puckerduck Sauce©  by PuckerbuttPepperCo ©
  • 1 cup honey
  • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Garnish: Cilantro

Instructions

  1. Chop onions, garlic and thyme into small pieces.
  2.  In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onions, garlic, thyme, egg, breadcrumbs, salt and pepper.
  3. Using your hands, mix the meat and seasonings until evenly distributed.
  4. Roll 1-1 1/2-inch meatballs. Mixture makes about 2 dozen.
  5. In a small mixing bowl, use a whisk to combine the Puckerduck sauce, honey, brown sugar, barbecue sauce and paprika until smooth.
  6. Put the meatballs in a crock-pot and turn it on high. Pour the sauce over the meatballs and stir to ensure even distribution.
  7. Cook the meatballs in the crock-pot on high for 4 hours, stirring periodically to avoid burning the bottom layer. Turn the heat to low if you feel your crock-pot is cooking too quickly, as these appliances vary in heat.
  8. Garnish with cilantro.

Here are the play-by-play instructions on how to make the Smoky Chicken Wings

smoky chicken wings

Smoky and savory, these chicken wings are a must at your next Smoky Chicken Wings or any game day gathering.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup Voodoo Prince Death Mamba© by PuckerButtPepperCo©
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon chipotle powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 pounds chicken wings, split
  • Kosher or sea salt, to taste
  • Fresh cracked black pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour, for dredging
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Heat a saucepan over medium heat. Melt the butter, and then stir in the garlic. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes, or until the garlic is lightly browned.
  2. Add tomato sauce, Voodoo Prince Death Mamba, smoked paprika, chipotle powder, Worcestershire sauce and brown sugar. Reduce heat to low and simmer the sauce for about 3 to 5 minutes or until thickened. Set aside.
  3. Rinse the chicken wings and pat them dry. Generously season the chicken with salt and black pepper. Dredge the wings in flour, shaking off any excess flour, and set aside.
  4. In a large saucepan or deep fryer, heat the oil to about 375°. Fry the chicken wings in small batches until golden brown, 8 to 10 minutes. Shake off any excess oil and place on paper towels to drain. Continue frying the chicken in batches until all of the wings are cooked.
  5. Toss the wings with the sauce and serve warm.
